Sello De Oro Preparation
Hot Preparation
Coffee Maker
Place 1tbsp. of Yerba Mate Sello de Oro in coffee filter per cup of water. Add Stevia leaves to sweeten, if desired. Run a regular cycle. Do not overfill, as mate tea expands rapidly and filter might overflow.
Brewt
Place Yerba Mate Sello de Oro at the bottom of container (1tbsp. per cup of water). Add Stevia leaves to sweeten, if desired. Add hot water and serve. Do not steep.
Gourd & Bombilla
This is the traditional way of enjoying Mate in South America. Fill your gourd 3/4 high with Yerba Mate Sello de Oro. Tilt gourd at an angle, place your hand over the top and shake for 5 seconds. Stop, keep angled position and add hot water. Wait until the Yerba has absorbed the water and place bombilla (metal straw) in. Add more water, wait a few minutes and sip. Keep adding water, steeping and sipping until flavour weakens. Replace Yerba Mate Sello de Oro and do it all over again!
Cold Preparation
Brewt
Place 2 tbsp. of Yerba Mate Sello de Oro per cup. Add Stevia leaves (1/4 tsp.) to sweeten. Fill cup with cold water, steep for 5 minutes and serve.
Coffee Maker
Place 1tbsp. of Yerba Mate Sello de Oro in coffee filter per cup of water. Add Stevia leaves (1/8 tsp per cup) to sweeten. Run a regular cycle. Remove from burner. Let it cool for a few minutes. Place tea in a large jug and add 2 cups of cold water per 1 cup of Yerba Mate and ice. For flavour enhancement you can add a few drops of lemon juice.
Gourd & Bombilla
Same procedure as above but replacing hot water with cold water. When Yerba Mate is prepared cold it is called "terere".
